We’re excited to introduce our new avatar style that brings the magic of Bitmoji to 3D in a much more immersive way.
The new avatar style improves characteristics like hair texture, face shading and body proportions. Your Bitmoji can now have a bolder smile, a more astonished face when they’re surprised, and can express even the most subtle and nuanced emotions. Plus, we’re improving how you engage with your Bitmoji on Snapchat, like enhanced editing that allows you to modify your avatar in 3D, using zoom and rotating features to get a closer look.
As part of the upgrade, users on Classic and Bitstrips styles will get updated to access to more features and customization options, including:
- Over 190 new hairstyles
- Hair dye options like ombré, balayage, split-dye and highlights
- Earrings, nose piercings, and other facial piercings
- More hat options and colours
- Exclusive Snapchat Lenses
- And more!
We are committed to giving all our users the best experience possible, and that means ensuring everyone can enjoy these, and many more, future Bitmoji feature releases!
Important note: Our Bitstrips and Classic avatar styles are no longer supported, meaning they cannot be restored. Thank you for your understanding.
If there is a feature you’d like to see next, tell us about it. We love hearing from you!

To edit from the Bitmoji app, tap on the happy face icon at the bottom of the screen to edit your avatar!
Q: When will I get access to the new avatar?
A: There is no action required by you to gain access – your Bitmoji will automatically update.
Q: Why am I still seeing my 2D avatar in some places on Snapchat and the Bitmoji app?
A: Our new avatar style will initially be available on Snapchat in Snapchat Profiles, Selfies, 3D Stickers and the Avatar Editor, and it will be coming to Bitmoji Lenses soon. You will still see your 2D Bitmoji on the Bitmoji app, and everywhere else you use Bitmoji stickers.
